Update on the new Sleeping Situation

Cruz will do everything in his power to avoid giving into the big boy bed.
We are trying our best not to nurse to sleep, so he usually gets pretty tired before he finally crashes. On this night, he ended up passing out in the middle of the two beds while I was trying to put the clean sheets on it. Funny little kid.

(OHMYGOD excuse his g-h-etto pajama's with the feet cut off! It was laundry day!)

He dug his little foot in to anchor himself so I couldn't move him!

Honestly, I spend more time curled up on the little bed then he does. But he is sleeping about 4 hours straight in the night right now. Sprawled horizantly across the big bed with Mama squished against the wall. It's not going very well, but we are forging ahead, because those overnights at Papa's are looming closer and closer and I just know that it will be easier on him if I can get him to sleep through the night. Even if that means that I dont get much sleep between now and then.

  1. I am always glad to see that I'm not the only one with a one year old who has regular night wakings. I am in awe of your strength as a mama, pushing through with preparing for nights without your boy and working toward what's best for him. I don't know how I would do it! I love the ghetto pajamas, too! My babe has very few pairs of proper PJs because footies are no good for our tile floors - too slippery! I can't believe I never thought to just take the feet off!

  3. @melissa: Thank you so much for your kind words. They mean a lot. And I am soooo relieved that there are other one year olds that arent sleeping straight through the night...and that have ghetto pajamas!!

  4. Kale is 10 months and we've always bedshared. He continues to wake 4-5 times a night, every night. We recently sidecarred his crib because he seemed to want more space. Unfortunately, most nights we're lucky if we can get him to put an arm or leg on the crib side. Baby steps, right?
Also, this weekend we're going to try and figure out something to help fill that little gap between the two mattresses. Like Cruz, Kale uses the gap to anchor himself so we can't move him. I'll let you know if we find a good solution!

  6. @Randalin- Right?! If I put Cruz in the big boy bed he wakes up like every 30 minutes without fail, but if he is in my bed he will sleep like 4 hours. Crazy kids. Definitely let me know if you find a solution for that pesky gap/foot anchor!

@Christa- Ugh, is there ever a good time? I guess my best advice would just be to do it when YOU feel ready b/c if you arent dedicated to it then it wont ever work. I find that I have to keep reminding myself that this is what is best for Cruz, otherwise I would just give up and Cruz would probably be in my bed until his wedding night! Keep me posted on how it goes for your little girl!
