King of the Wilg Things

On Cruz's birthday his Papa and I took him to the Zoo.

We started things off with some donut holes for breakfast on the ride down.

Then Cruz enjoyed an Oreo upon arrival.

Cruz loved the friendly farm animals.

Papa wasnt so into the animals touching his baby.

Our only picture together on Cruz's big day. Papa isnt much of a photographer, but I'm glad we at least got one.

Showing his Papa the way.

Fell asleep eating a lollipop. Quite a sticky fiasco.

I swear we fed him more than refined sugar...but not much. You only turn one once!

There Was Bloodshed

Poor Cruz made it 364 days without ever getting a cut. Almost one entire year!

But alas, on the eve of his birthday, he was taking his evening bath and disaster struck.

I didn't even notice at first. Nor did he.

When I walked out of the bathroom in my towel my mom asked why my chest was bleeding.  When I looked I figured it was just a scratch from where Cruz pinches me while he is nursing (yes, he has starting pinching/scratching my chest while nursing. Its not malicious, he is just exploring recent motor skills, but none the less its painful).

But then I realized that my chest wasnt the only spot with blood on it. I followed the trail across my body and onto Cruz's, finally locating the cut fingertip.

Has anyone ever told you that fingertips bleed a lot? A LOT. Well they do.

The poor kid bled for the better part of an hour. Like really bled. Flowing.

He went through 4 band aids which where easily removed by curious little hands. Then I put a sock over it to try to prolong the life of the band aids. He was not the slightest bit fazed. He had the sock off in one foul swoop. Finally I whipped out a mitten and that kept him busy for about 8 minutes. But, of course, he was able to get that off eventually too.

Luckily the carpet suffered minimal damage.

My laptop is a different story.

 A bloody mess!
His first band aid ever :(

Happy Birthday Son

Little Bear,

I have no idea how this first year slipped by us so quickly. You forever live in my mind as the little burrito that I brought home from the hospital such a short time ago. You lay here next to me now, sleeping, 12 months after the beautiful day that I was blessed enough to welcome you into my life. Looking at how much you have grown blows my mind. Your hair is getting so long, your smile so big. I wish I could describe everything about you in this letter, at this moment, but words just couldn’t do you justice.

I feel blessed by every moment that I get to be your mama. You never fail to lighten my day, my mood and my heart. Part of me wants to keep you the way you are in this moment forever. To freeze you in your sweet, little perfectness. But the other part me cannot wait to see what the rest of your life has in store for us. I can’t wait to watch you walk. To hear your sweet little voice say its first word. To soak up every new achievement and to comfort you during every let down or tough learning experience. I am so excited to continue to explore this amazing life with you. And I still cannot believe God chose me to be your mama.

As chapter one of your little life comes to a close and we begin the venture into the next, I hope that you take with you all the love, happiness, joy, and acceptance that you have been surrounded with. Know that your mama will love you and cherish you for every second of every minute for the rest of your love. I will love you for every new skill you development, for every temper tantrum you throw, for every nap you fight and for every kiss I steal. Remember that you will always and forever be the most amazing, important part of my life. I thank God for you every day.

Continue to fill the world with your beauty, laughter and love.

-Mama

FAQ?

So I have been getting a lot of requests lately for an FAQ page.... Except I have no idea what I would put in an FAQ page.

Its the same reason I avoid doing an "about me" page.

I feel like everyone else has it pretty cut and dry:

Hi my name is _____. I'm married to my best friend _____. He is the most amazing man in the world. We have an amazing baby named ____ born on _____. We have the most amazing life ever and I couldn't be happier.

Thats the basic format for like 99.62% of "about me's" in the blogger world.

I don't really know how to sum up my life in that small amount sentences. I feel like it would just leave people with more questions then answers.

I digress. FAQ Page.

So if those of you who have inquired about the FAQ page could be so kind as to clue me in on the kind of questions you would like answered I would be ever grateful!

(If you have any questions that you aren't comfortable posting, but wanted to chat about, feel free to email me!)
